The United Arab Emirates has pledged to invest in the $25 billion Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP), a major project aimed at transporting natural gas from Nigeria to Morocco and eventually Europe. This was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed during King Mohammed VI’s visit to Abu Dhabi in late 2023.
The NMGP will stretch over 5,600 kilometers, making it the world’s longest offshore pipeline, passing through 13 African countries. It’s expected to supply energy to over 400 million people while reducing gas flaring in Nigeria.
The UAE’s involvement highlights its commitment to sustainable energy development in Africa and strengthens ties between Gulf and African nations.
