20 Rescued by NAPTIP & DIA in Nigeria–Senegal Crackdown on Human Trafficking Ring

In a well‑planned raid spanning FCT, Osun, and Nasarawa States, NAPTIP and DIA arrested three kingpins behind a trans‑border syndicate. They rescued 20 victims, trafficked from Equatorial Guinea and Togo under false employment schemes, forced into exploitative labour upon arrival in Nigeria  . This operation highlights intensified surveillance at border communities and deeper inter‑agency collaboration all aimed at halting human trafficking in its tracks.

A separate but intertwined rescue unfolded in Dakar, Senegal. A middle‑aged Nigerian woman, lured with a job promise as a hairstylist and make‑up artist by a recruiter known as “Madam Rose,” was instead coerced into prostitution. Thanks to swift action by NAPTIP, working with the Nigerian Embassy in Dakar, she’s now back in Nigeria and receiving trauma care. NAPTIP has launched a manhunt targeting “Madam Rose,” coordinating closely with Senegalese authorities.

NAPTIP Director‑General Binta Bello described the coordinated efforts as “just the beginning” in dismantling transnational trafficking networks . With support from defense, foreign affairs, immigration, and security agencies, this mission sets a fresh bar for proactive, intelligence‑led interventions. It’s a statement that Nigeria is no longer just a victim’s destination it’s becoming a defender.
