Filing a Complaint or Seeking Bail? Don’t Pay a Kobo – Lagos Police Warns

The Lagos State Police Command has urged residents not to pay any money when filing complaints or seeking bail at any police station. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known while addressing public concerns, reiterating that both services are completely free. He emphasized that any demand for payment by police officers in such situations is illegal and should be reported immediately.

Hundeyin assured the public that the police force is committed to transparency and professionalism, urging citizens to stand firm against corrupt practices. He stated that the command has put mechanisms in place to monitor officers and sanction any found extorting money from the public.

The PPRO also encouraged Lagos residents to utilize official channels to report any cases of misconduct by officers. He affirmed the police’s dedication to building trust and strengthening community-police relations across the state.
